Cello Solo Lead Sheets

On this page you will find links to some of my popular music lead sheets for solo ‘cello.

I have been playing solo ‘cello at weddings and high-end luxury events throughout France for well over a decade. Think fairy-tale châteaux, Michelin starred restaurants, country manors and grand wine houses… I am often asked to create a custom arrangement for my clients and therefore have a huge collection of pop, film and other genres available to choose from.

Cello-friendly keys

Pop songs are written to suit the vocal range of the lead singer and don’t necessarily fit well in the lyrical tenor register of the ‘cello. Where I have been able I have kept to the original key of each song, but where necessary I have transposed to ‘cello-friendly keys better suited to the instrument’s most powerful and voice-like range.

Technical difficulty

I don’t know about you, but when I am performing a 2-3 hour set as background music I don’t want to be playing concerto-standard difficulty. All my arrangements are written to be well within the capabilities of the average Advanced-Intermediate ‘cellist and are conceived specifically with the range and technical capabilities of the ‘cello in mind. They are enjoyable to play, instantly recognisable and performable with the minimum of rehearsal time. They are not however, dumbed down versions of the vocal line and are as faithful to the original song rhythm and energy as it is possible to get on the ‘cello.

Backing Tracks

Every one of these arrangements can be played alongside commercially available backing tracks and each lead sheet comes with a link to purchase the appropriate backing track. I am not affiliated with the producers of these tracks – I am doing it from the kindness of my own heart so that you too can enjoy playing popular music on the ‘cello.

Licencing and Copyright

All my arrangements for ‘cello solo are of copyrighted works not in the public domain. They are published through the smppress ArrangeMe program who have secured the appropriate publishing licences. Purchasing a licenced copy of these copyrighted works does not grant you a licence to perform them. If you want to perform these works publicly (i.e. not at private events) please check out the additional music performance licencing requirements in your territory.

Other instruments or keys

Please do reach out for transcriptions in different keys or for other instruments. In the fullness of time I will release violin/flute lead sheets too, but do reach out to me for any specific requests via my contact page. Versions of already published sheets will be on a very quick turnaround so don’t hesitate to contact me about your own instrument versions or key requirements.
